Bordered squares
Bordered carpet installations can be planned using two methods. Each method has advantages and disadvantages that need to be considered.
Take for example one simple installation:
Designed and woven as a Cairo square.
The body and border elements are woven separately and seamed and mitred together. This example is seamed together with 6 standard seams and 4 mitred seams Cairo Squares are less expensive than Chlidema Squares, but more seams are required and we cannot guarantee 4 perfect design matched corners.
Woven to plan Chlidema square.
The entire plan is taken into account and the border is designed as an integral part of the carpet. Chlidema squares are of particular advantage with ornate borders, where the design flows uninterrupted around each corner.
The same installation would require just 2 seams if woven as a Chlidema.
Fewer seams are required and borders flow continuously around a corner, but Chlidema Squares are more expensive than Cairo squares.
